Earlier in the month, Zoopla announced that it will be banning adverts that state no “no DSS” (basically, that housing benefit is not accepted). These steps will be introduced from April 2019, and it’s something we whole-heartedly agree with.

In Aberystwyth, it’s quite common to see adverts for rentals with “no DSS” stipulated at the end, but it’s something we have always avoided as a letting agent. We know that situations oftentimes can’t be helped, and as such we always talk to anyone who may be accepting help from the county to understand their situation before making any decisions.

So, well done to Zoopla for making a great step forward to try and help those who do accept housing benefit, but how soon will the other large letting portals take to join?
